From: dgolden@netcom.com (David Golden) Subject: Update on San Fran Bullet Ban To: PNorrisII@aol.com, dramis@aol.com, rbabcock@community.net Date: Mon, 21 Aug 1995 14:13:37 -0700 (PDT) TO everyone who expressed interest in the proposed legislation by Supervisor Willie Kennedy of San Francisco re new gun control legislation: 1) There hasn't been anything in the newspapers since the last article 2) I've been in communication with Supervisor Kennedy's legislative assistant on thismatter, Gaynel Armstrong, and she states her intention to present their draft proposal. 3) A member of the Lawyer's Guild of San Francisco, 'Darin Ferrar' (?), is a driving force at this point. The SF-funded center for violence prevention (based at SF General Hospital) is also involved. 4) It is likely that the proposed ban of gun shows will be dropped, now that folks have realized that the Cow Palace is outside of City limits 5) The next step is for Gaymel to meet with the City Attorney to come up with legislation that doesn't clash with various other existing State and City statutues. The City Attorney is working on the matter. My sense is that they are having a tough time trying to figure out how to 'plug the holes' in the legislation. They should have a meeting later this week. 6) At this point I still view Supervisor Kennedy (a woman incidentally) as potentially friendly to RKBA arguments. We shall see.
