GUN OWNERS OF CALIFORNIA, INC. 3440 VIKING DRIVE, SUITE 106 SACRAMENTO, CA 95827 916-361-3109 916-361-7922 FAX FAX ALERT September 21, 1995 Chief David Snowden Costa Mesa Police Department Costa Mesa, CA Dear Chief Snowdon: It has come to our attention that a demonstration, sponsored by the Pasadena Coalition for a Non-Violent City, is slated to be held in your community Saturday, September 23rd at noon in front of the Bryco Arms Manufacturing Company. This demonstration is billed as an attempt to raise public awareness in regards to the manufacture of small, inexpensive handguns, commonly known as "Saturday Night Specials." My reason for writing you is to inform you that, despite what you may have been told by the sponsoring organization, members of Gun Owners of California are being encouraged to stay away from the event. Your participation in the "peacekeeping" aspects will be unnecessary and a complete waste of taxpayer monies, monies better spent apprehending the criminal element who do use these and other weapons in the course of a crime. It is my opinion that this "show" will yield few participants, and through its attempts to garner attention, will drag you and your department into a situation that portends to be quite, if not downright sleepy. Thank you for your time and consideration in this matter. Sincerely, [signed] Carolyn L.
