Until a full-time slot opens up, he will be the "official fill-in host". His next stint will be substituting for Duane Garrett from 7pm-10pm next week, Mon-Fri, Apr 3-7. Since this is after dark, you should be able to pick up KGO Radio (810 khz on the AM dial) all the way from San Diego up to Alaska. (KGO is a San Francisco station). Mr. Burns identifies himself on the air as a Libertarian more than some of our presidential candidates have in the past. ========================================================================= >From: bah@sweng.stortek.com (Brad Huntress) For my Fellow libertarians. If you havn't heard this guy; his show is MUST listening. He was the best radio talk show host in Boston for years till he got a better offer in New York. He commentary and perspective are the most liberatrian of any radio commentator I've heard and I was really disapointed that I can't get him here in Denver. He really should be nationallysyndicated. For any GLB folks out there his outlook matched mine exactly being that he was neither pro nor con Gay rights but was clearly against the ban on gays in the military. I heard him interview Joe Stephan when his book came out and he clearly thought it was shameful that an honor student was being discharged from Anapolis simply for admitting he was gay. On racial issues he is completely color blind/color neutral. And I guess religiously you would call him a "free thinker" like myself. Radio talk shows seem to play an important role in American politics these days, like it or not. Does anyone really believe that the Republicans would have swept the Senate and the House races last year without the help of Rush Limbaugh? Just out of curiousity; what do you fellow liberneters think of Rush? I used to like like him but he seems to me now to appeal to a very simply minded folk that don't question a whole lot. He doesn't seem particularly "liberty" oriented, but he certainly has an immense following which is kind of scary. We need people like Gene Burns influencing the populations opinions more that shameless self promotors like Rush. Just my $.02 Brad Huntress ========================================================================= To post to the San Diego Libertarian Email Network or to respond to a post on it, send email to "sdlp@lumina.ucsd.edu" For administrative functions, send email to the host, John McPherson, at "mcpherso@lumina.ucsd.edu"
