The national debate over health reform is heating up with a major decision
expected this fall!  Competing proposals all claim to address the problems of
health cost escalation and the ready need for inexpensive health services,
especially for the disadvantaged.
 
The Clinton Administration and others propose expanding government control over
health care, including the use of price controls, global budgets, individual
and employer mandates, proscribed benefits, health boards, etc.
 
Others instead propose pro-competitive reforms in order to de-bureaucratize
government's already heavy hand in subsidizing the health consumption of
millions and in regulating insurance, medical education, drugs and devices,
hospitals, health professionals, and many more areas.  Such plans propose
deregulation, medical IRAs/savings accounts, privatization, and tort reform as
routes for positive change.
 
All sides agree that the current complexity of public and private health
systems is increasingly inefficient, especially when compared to what
historically had been an efficient health system.  The conference, HEALTH
CHOICES FOR AMERICA, will boldly address the causes and remedies of the health
care problem in the U.S. 
 
With 35 speakers, this is a conference not to be missed, including a special
luncheon featuring Senator ROBERT DOLE, with ABC-TV's JOHN STOSSEL moderating a
panel of JACKSON FARIS (National Federation of Independent Business), WILLIAM
KRISTOL (Project for the Republican Future), EUGENE SCHONFELD (National Kidney
Cancer Association), DAVID KENDALL (Progressive Policy Institute) and others. 
The conference will also include TONY SNOW (USA Today), PATRICIA DANZON
(Wharton School), CLARK HAVIGHURST (Duke University), ROBERT HELMS (AEI),
ROBERT CRANDALL (Brookings) and many others.
