X-Listprocessor-Version: 6.0c -- ListProcessor by Anastasios Kotsikonas X-Comment: NRA Alerts list Sender: firearms-alert-owner@shell.portal.com Precedence: bulk Status: R August 9, Update: NRA-ILA has it on reliable sources that a vote on the Rule for the Crime Bill is likely tomorrow, Wednesday, August 10! If the Rule is voted upon and accepted the actual vote on the Crime Bill will be held immediately afterwards. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT ALL MEMBERS AND GUN OWNERS CONTACT THEIR REPRESENTATIVES AT LEAST ONE MORE TIME BETWEEN TODAY AND TOMORROW AND URGE THEM TO VOTE AGAINST THE RULE AND THE CRIME BILL ITSELF! Opponents of this Crime Bill are holding firm, but the Clinton Administration is putting a great deal of pressure on House Members to change their vote. While most attention is focused on the House side of Congress do not forget to contact your Senators. Please be sure to tell your Senators to oppose the Crime Bill and to support a filibuster of the Crime Bill if one should occur. This 1200 page Crime Bill which was reported out of the Conference Committee last week is big spending legislation which will do nothing to reduce crime in America. The gun ban portion appears to be nearly identical to the House passed HR 4296 EXCEPT that all record keeping requirements have been removed. Members are urged to contact their Representatives and Senators and urge them to oppose this bill on the basis of the huge pork programs as well as the anti-gun/anti-freedom gun ban. The Congressional switchboard telephone number is 202-224-3121!
