Jeff Chan xxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx PLEASE INCLUDE THIS LETTER IN YOUR PUBLIC FILE July 14, 1994 Station Manager KTVU-TV Channel 2 Oakland, CA VIA FAX: (510) 451-2610 cc: Edythe Wise, Federal Communications Commission, fax: (202) 653-9659 Dear Sir or Madam: I'm very disappointed that you chose not to cover the July 2 Second Amendment Rally in Sacramento. In my June 30, 1994 letter I documented your 4 minutes of June 30th, 1994 10 p.m. evening news coverage of a march sponsored and organized by the Handgun Control Incorporated political lobby. In the same letter I urged equal coverage of our constitutional rights event. Despite this, you deliberately chose to ignore our grassroots rally which 5,000 people from throughout the state attended -- more than 10 times the number in San Francisco. You have provided an obvious, significant, and easily measured bias in your reporting which I hope reviewers of your public file will take note of. Your politically motivated, biased coverage of this issue is a disservice to the community. How can members of the public make an informed decision about "gun control" when you chose to censor one side while aggressively promoting the other? I hope in future you will respect both the first and second amendments by providing journalistically responsible coverage of both sides. Sincerely, [signature] Jeff Chan
